Update Bulletin 21

Well after hearing from Daniel about the purchase of land and a proposed classroom by the end of 2014, it was nice to receive an email from Hon. Rachael Nyamai confirming such events in writing. See as follows:

Dear Hellen,

Thanks for your email.

Yes the matters you have discussed here are facts. On the ground. We are working towards ensuring that the school is registered and that the children get a good place to learn from. I wish to inform you that I will do all the best that I can for the people for the period that I am in this position.

Kindly pass my regards to Mrs Daniel and assure her of my support for the project. Her family has always supported me heavily. Yes Ndunda being a pastor he is one of the most accountable people you will come across. He manages the projects properly.

Let’s do all we can to the people of Kanthi. We will do the best to support your dreams. And above all TOGETHER we can…

Pass regards to all

Having sent the money for the mats for the children to have their afternoon siesta on and money for breakfast and lunch for Term One, Daniel ordered ‘special quality’ mats to be made for the children and has already commenced buying food for their meals from our donation. May I say a wonderful couple (who wish to remain anonymous) donated $700.00 toward the food for the rest of this year’s school terms. Also as Daniel has to pay to have emails sent and for photos to be taken, downloaded and sent, another wonderful family have donated a laptop computer and digital camera for him………….people’s on going generosity is amazing. On Daniel’s behalf, I thank you so much.

Silas Tuwei from Amiran also sent his monthly report and more photos of the tomato crops, they are still flourishing as you can see. The report is hard to read as it is in triplicate and we receive the third copy.

Another interesting piece of news is that having not had any success with a complaint to the Ombudsmen for Australia Post, I wrote to the Hon. Malcolm Turnbull Minister for Communications about the ‘extremely poor service’ we received from Australia Post regarding the non delivery of the crayons for the children’s Christmas gift. Within two weeks I received a letter back stating that my matter would be referred to a senior manager of Australia Post for further consideration. Fingers crossed for a favourable outcome this time!
